Kitchen Robot Introduced in Japan

Posted February 28, 2010 by admin in Newsdesk | 25 comments

Professors at Tokyo University gave a glimpse into a future world where robots can help out around the house. It may not be as fast as a human and its movements might be a little jerky, but the humanoid robot can pour a cup of tea and even wash up the cup afterwards. The robot is the result of four years of hard work using cutting edge technology gathered from more than 40 Robotics and Information Technology professors at the University of Tokyo. Japan is in a leading position in terms of robotic design but most robots are used in industrial environments. The team of professors at Tokyo University wanted to create a robot that could be used in other environments. They believe this kind of service robot could be used in hospitals or household where the users are not in the position to conduct the normal chore themselves.

I’m curious as to why they decided to go with biped for this robot, since it doesn’t seem to help the robot do what it’s supposed to, Presumably a segway base would be somewhat faster on some movements.

  3. So Do I

  4. and of course they only gonna cost $5 if you have it at home

  16. PLEASE! THIS IDIOT POSTED IT AND I’M SCARED THAT THIS MIGHT REALLY HAPPEN SO DON’T SEND IT TO ANYMORE VIDEOS.
IM NOT TRYING TO ADVERTISE BUT IM SCARED OF WHAT IT SEES in 1908 a lady named sally rusa was in the woods looking for a dog until a ghost came and killed her so if ur reading this u will find a bloody body in your closet hanging there haunting you and will kill you and ur family and if u want to stop this just sends this to 6 videos in 30 mins or this will happen good luck!!

  17. after robots replaced workers in factories, they replaced consumers in homes. mastering the pouring of tea and washing of cup, they went on to learn to drink the tea, and then go out to buy more at the market. programmed to spend everything and never save for retirement, they brought a boost to productivity and a permanently fluid economy. next up, how aig execs are replaced with robots, and how they will spend their bonuses.

  18. You see that at 1:50 that robot did the moon walk
